for the leading countries competing in the games. When you click on the number of current medals , it goes into more detail about the country. (i.e. population, the capitol...) My question is, that when you click on the USA icon,we have no official language. Is this an oversight?? I have to say that I am a little offended that they couldn't or wouldn't list English as or official language. Am I being too sensitive ?

The United States does not have an official language, nor has it ever.

Every bill that has been introduced to make English our "national" language has been shot down as racist.

Gotta love it.

The U.S. does not have an official language. This is a fact, not an oversight at all. English is the de facto language of the American government and the most spoken language in the country, but is never listed as an official language.

If anything, since Yahoo is American-biased, they would be highly likely to get the USA's facts straight the best. Oversight would most likely fall on any other country.

It's not an oversight, the US does not have an officially ordained language. Yes, the majority of people living here speak English, but it's not an official language.

The main reason is that you don't speak ENGLISH.

You think you do but the rest of us ENGLISH speakers know that you don't.

You quite clearly speak American. It's not English and it's not American English it's just plain old AMERICAN.

As soon as you learn how to spell the word COLOUR (not colour), LITRE and METRE (not liter and meter) and ALUMINIUM (not aluminum) then you can say you speak ENGLISH.

As for why they didn't write that you speak American on your page I don't know. I had heard that the US doesn't have an OFFICIAL language. Something about having American as your language but it hasn't been called your OFFICIAL language.

that is an person-friendly question! united states of america delegation: 1500 athletes some small countries (occasion:in basic terms 50 athletes in Beijing) can dispute the 1st place on Rank Medals if the 50 athletes win the gold medal! inspite of each and every thing, there is not any athlete in Beijing, that bypass there wanting to win Silver or Bronze medal. every person needs the Gold using fact is for it that athletes prepare all their lifes. Gold medal is the appropriate purpose for all athletes... Gold medal that actual counts! Michael Phelps does no longer be virtually as impressive if he have been going for 8 bronzes. of course, with 1500 athletes united states of america could have greater medals on the appropriate of Olympics, yet bear in mind: quantity isn't high quality! united states of america ought to settle for, that won't greater the quantity one IN OLYMPIC worldwide!

Sort Of. They should list it as being english because that is our primary language but we should not be offended if they don't put it.
