I don't know in what twisted world sticking your moves equates to a lesser score than someone who took extra hops and stepped OUT OF BOUNDS. Or how in the heck Viktoria Komova's near perfect floor routine was deemed unworthy of even a 15.3.
I literally have no words...I mean she was clearly better than Gabby.
Does anyone else think she deserved the gold?

Both of the girls did amazing and congratulations to Gabby winning, but Vika would have been my pic, she looked more poised to me but true they where neck in neck, I liked Vikas floor routine more and she has a very sweet nature, I was really sad to see her lose the gold medal, and I understand why she was upset, all the gymnasts have been working so hard been practicing the whole day every day for four years and then the pressure of competing at the Olympics and then feeling that they performed there best and being told no. I think it's difficult for all of them, and I know every gymnast there worked so hard to be there. I don't think Komova was robbed, a bit low scored though, and just being able to qualify for the Olympics is an amazing honor! The artistic gymnastic was such a joy to watch this year. I'm also bummed with Mustafina's beam fall, I think she would've got gold if it wasn't for that.

Let's be honest here...we know why they made sure Gabby won the gold if it was close. She is Black. The judges were probably afraid of the inevitable cries of "racism" if they had given Komova the very high, although deserved, score she needed to win the gold. I know the announcers talked about how difficult it is to score over 15.0 on floor, but why set that the max score at 16.1 and then somehow find a full point of deductions when there were no "visible mistakes"? Where did the deductions come from?
If Gabby's floor routine was higher difficulty, I sure didn't see it. Gabby wobbled on at least one landing, and she wavered to one side after completing a simple twirl. Komova's twirl was more difficult because she raised her leg above her head as she twirled, and she came to a stop while remaining perfectly upright.
For Komova to only outscore Douglas by 0.067 is blatant evidence that the judges intentionally wanted to make sure that Douglas had the gold well in hand.
And as others have said here, scoring in a couple of the other apparatuses were questionable as well in Gabby's favor.
So I'll say it again: Gabby Douglas was awarded the gold medal for being Black. Affirmative action has made its way to Olympic women's gymnastics.

I think she (Komova) did deserve the Gold, but the scoring system and the Code of points is so messed up you win based on clever routine construction, not talent or grace. This is why Douglas won. The level of gymnastics we see nowadays is so bad compared to even the 97--2000 COP which many older gym fans like myself thought was horrible and would bring about the death of artistry. I now watch the 2000 Olympics and wish we had the those rules back. The current code makes gymnastics like a circus with clown like dancing and poses from all the gymnasts save a handful of Russians and Chinese gymnasts. This sport died in 2006 when Ferrari won the Gold and Jana Bieger won the silver in the World AA. I think I died a little that day too.

Maybe she acquired screwed on he rating at the flooring movements. I can trust that. She nonetheless should not have gained. Why? Because the maximum rating at the flooring thus far this Olympics used to be 15.325 by means of Raisman in the course of qualifications. Second maximum? 15.three (additionally Raisman). Both got here from a efficiency with a greater stage of crisis. Even if Komova by some means used to be equipped to compare the maximum rating on her flooring movements, it might now not were ample to win (15.325 might make .225 extra, she wanted .260 to win). Could she have acquired a ultimate 10 in execution? No. Not at the moment. Maroney's five moment vault in workforce finals acquired a .two deduction on the grounds that her knees had been moderately aside. In a ninety moment flooring movements, you can uncover lots of the ones forms of deductions, and the judges have thus far this festival. A nine.one million turns out low, however it's a lot greater than that they had been scoring on flooring. A nine.360 (profitable rating for Komova) might were enormously top and an overly suspicious rating. Also maintain in brain that that is the change among American and Russian gymnasts. The Americans are powerful and strong, like conventional athletes. The Russians are swish and stylish, like ballerinas. Gymnastics is a mixture of each. Point is: every body demands to drop this argument. It's now not racist, it isn't an American bias. It's beautiful good alongside the strains of what the judges were scoring. Not to say, Komova would have had a far greater deduction on her vault within the first rotation. It should not have been unexpected in the event that they counted 3 steps on her dismount as a substitute of 2. It comes right down to that. Komova stepped off her vault, Mustafina fell off track, Raisman held the beam. Gabby made no main mistakes. By all proof, those parties had been scored really. That stated, gymnastics outcome, by means of their nature, will constantly be disputed, mainly at this stage. It's a beautiful facet of the drama, however it's not grounds for political or racial debate.

Komova had a great floor routine. It scared me so much because I thought she would beat Gabby. But she didn't. Gabby did not step out of bounds, I do believe she scrunched her toes to avoid this. Anyway, Gabby did wonderful and so did Komova. I believe they earned the correct medals.

Gabby didn't step out of bounds in the all-around. That was in the Team event. Komova probably should have got a higher score on floor, but she didn't deserve gold.

Komova messed up her vault landing, made it up with the uneven bars, didn't do great on the balance beam or the floor exercise since her difficulty was too low in those events. In contrast Gabby improved her performance on all of her weakest events and as a result won the gold.

Gabby didn't step out of bounds. What are you watching? Put on your glasses or get some...
By the way, if Wieber was allowed in and there wasn't a limit of two per country, komova would be lucky to get silver.

Komova should have been awarded the silver, probably.
Komova's floor routine would have scored probably a 15.975 or so. But I was sorry that the routine was scored lower.

I do think that Komova was hugely underscored for her floor routine, I was quite shocked to be honest. But Gabby did really well and she deserves her gold. They both did well.

It is an olympic tradition. Yanks always received inflated scores.
