Im looking into training for the olympics as a 5k runner. I used to run long distances pretty fast and my endurance is really good and my body can take a lot of punishment. How long would it take to get to olympic level 3 years? 4 years?

Olympics is inspiring isn't it ? :)
You need to get a coach, or train with a group.. If you're not in school/college or university then it would be a good idea to join a club at either one of those anyway. Then you need to make sacrifices: morning jogging and training every weekday afternoon.
In 3 or 4 years time you could improve tremendously but you also need to start competing. 5ks is a good event because there are usually many races, especially on the road. In SA there is at least 1 every weekend. So take the opportunity to compete as much as possible.
All the best!

As an alternative than taking days off you must alternate tough and easy days. When you figure out very rough it takes at least 24 hours to get well, so twice a day shouldn't be going to aid. Walking 6 days or even 7 days each and every week, can work, but you cannot instruct difficult day-to-day. Devour healthy, meaning generally elaborate carbohydrates, with protein. Drink plenty of water, exercises drinks can be dangerous to you and your enamel, and have an excessive amount of sodium and sugar. Learning p.C., and how one can race is some thing that you can and will do, it simply takes time. Find a coach, it's so much simpler to comply with the directions of a good educate, who could make adjustments to your application, than looking to do it your self.
