25 and a half is admirable for one so young. But don't get too caught up in your numbers now. Shot put is a sport for the mature body. Most SP records are set relatively late in life, mid 30's where most other sports peak in the mid 20's. Shot putters are usually the oldest athletes on the Olympic track team. The fact that you are starting so early is surprising. I didn't even pick up a shot until I was a senior in high school.

I threw a 12 pounder around 34 feet then. Later I kept at it in the Navy improving to 39 feet with a 16 lb shot in boot camp. Ten years later I met Brent Noon and his father in Fallbrook, Ca. before his senior season. (He was the National champion that year 71'8".) I improved to 49'8" over the next two years and win two straight championships at Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base. It was fun.

So what do you need to do? First, be patient. Your best throws are well ahead of you. Second, don't become obsessed. Shot put depends largely on two things: body size and speed. There is a limit to how much effective bulk you can add to the body you are born with. If you don't grow to 6'2"+ and weigh ultimately 280+ pounds you are going to struggle at the higher levels, (college and Olympic).

What you can do for now is improve your strength by lifting weights. And improve your speed and balance by studying martial arts. That is how I was able to pick up the shot so late and still contribute to my team's success. In the mean time, practice your throwing technique so you body develops good muscle memory. Good luck to you.
