Doping is illegal and since the athletes and the Olympic games are in Italy, their police are getting involved. Just like the police here in the US would get involved if it was here.

Because simple possession of doping materials and even many of the masking substances are crimes in Italy and, as the Olympic Village is on Italian soil, they are searching for the violations of those laws and say that they plan to prosecute any violations to the full extent of Italian law
