People have forgotten that the olympics arent about politics so they're protesting the games everywhere the torch goes and disrupting things

People are upset with the situation of China's control over Tibet. When the torch went through some cities protesters tried to hurt the people who were carrying it. They think that by putting out the torch they will prevent the olympics from being held in China, but nothing will affect the games from being held this summer.

1- The torch represents the flame of the human spirit

2- The flame in the human spirit is eternal

3- The human spirit is universal, manifests itself in all of us, speaks all languages, knows no border, protests nothing but darkness

The big deal ?

The Olympic torch is a symbol of what we as a nation need to aspire to....the light of common souls....that is a bid deal !

Question #3 Another good question !

The controversy seems to focus attention on the lost hopes of a people that want peace and freedom in their lives....I'm not speaking about the Chinese or the Tibetans....I'm speaking about the protesters

Question #4

Isn't the boycotting of the running of the torch the manifestation of the very same grief and pain the boy-cotters wish to protest ?

well im not totally sure about everything (im only human lol) but theres a country thats part of china (so actually not a country lol) called tibet. and tibet wants to follow their own religions and laws and stuff (buddhism) but china wants them to have theirs. so lately the chinese have been killin a couple tibetans (i use the term "a couple" very loosely). So when the runners of the torch began the race around the world there were angry mobs of protesters everywhere usually formed by tibetians. mainly made up of people who didnt like the chinese for killing tibetians tho.

in london i think while the torch bearer was running through the streets a couple people tried to extuingish the flame. one guy tried to grab the torch and another cam out with a fire extuingisher lol (true). and i think yesterday the torch was in san fransisico and a guy hid in a warehouse for 45 minutes and took an alternate route (havent heard much details as to why. probly from mobs). and thats the latest news. if you have more questions just expand your question. :)

This may answer your question in another way:

Why there is NO uproar against the Australian 2000 Olympics, given the Aussie records on treating Native aboriginals are ruthless and genocidal ?

But there was a dead silence maintained by the US and UK media ?

And none of the European Leaders then talked about boycotting Aussies' opening ceremony ?

But do you think it is going to be safe for the olympics to be held in Beijing when all of this rioting is going on?

When politics affects the safety of our athletes, then yes, it matters.
