Gymnastics. I have been a gymnast for only one year and i've had enough experience to know that it is a tough sport! Unlike throwing a ball and tackling each other.... also dance is VERY easy, all you do is posture pourettes and DANCE. How easy is that? Gymnast are muscly because they work out! It is very hard and not an easy sport but I love it and it is one of the most best sports for girls!

gymnastics is WAY harder. football really isnt that hard..you have to memorize plays and tackle a bunch of big guys holding a funny ball. in gymnastics you have to be super strong for four different events that all take different strengths and A LOT of skill. anyone can pick up a football and play, but not many people can do gymnastics.

Definitely gymnastics. There is nothing really difficult about football, except memorizing plays and running up and down a field. Gymnastics is a tough sport and only the toughest people can do it. 4 different apparatuses, all that takes different strengths. Constant training for years, mental and physical pain, concentration, powerful but graceful at the same time, sacrifices, maturity, and disappointments all before your an adult. If that's not tough, than I don't know what is. :)

im going to say gymnastics. but i think that football is a close second compared to any other sports. gymnastics is more than a sport. its a lifestyle. you do it many hours a week year round. its something that you start when your really little and do non stop all through your childhood.it takes mental and physical strength, because you have to go through a lot of pain, and also you have to overcome your fears even if sometimes you'd rather quite than try a skill. football is really hard too, but more in the physical way. but its WAY easier to start doing than gymnastics. gymnastics has so much more that you have to learn to actually compete in it. any one who hasnt been around gymnastics will watch the gymnasts in the summer olympics and say, oh my gosh!! how the hell do they do that!! well, it doesnt come naturally it comes with thousands and thousands of hours of training, which comes with pain, fear and mental blocks. gymnasts train their bodies to do things that should be impossible, and seem impossible when you see it. they are extremely tough and know how to work. football players are amazing athletes too, but in high school at least they dont put in nearly as much dedication and work. plus they dont have to go through nearly as much mental pain. i would definately say that gymnastics is the toughest sport out there. dont believe me then try lasting through one of the practices

Gymnastics is an activity and sport involving performance of exercises requiring physical strength, flexibility, agility, co-ordination, balance, and grace
Gymnasts are really fast at running well if you train enough, like for vault , ( like in competitive) , they are super strong ( press handstands Straight), they can lift weights because they have great arm strength to do things like climbing up a rope using there arms while there legs are in a straddle or a pike. gymnastics can do all this with pointed feet. it takes allot to be a gymnast

Gymnastics on a high level competitive team. Its definelty different doing cartwheels, from yurchenkos, and releases on the bars which are way harder than football. People just think gymnastics is easier because they think of the easy skills on floor like a handstand.

Gymnastics, Gymnastics, Gymnastics. OMG, anyone that thinks other wise is just ignorant as to what gymnastics entails. Gymnasts have to be strong, flexible, graceful, and FEARLESS!!! Really, gymnastics has 4 different events (for girls). And gymnastics' purpose is perfection. Therefore, theres really no contest.

I practiced 10 more hours per week in gymnastics when I was in first grade than the high school football team practiced...
I think football is definitely rougher. I wouldn't want to get tackled by some big dude. But as for which is more difficult and which is more of an intense workout, I have absolutely no doubt that it is gymnastics.
@Colin Mosher - Doing a cartwheel and a back handspring isn't what the poster meant by "gymnastics." That's not gymnastics at all, that's what every single little kid does for a year or two before they get into other sports. She meant competitive gymnastics, the kind you devote your entire life to.

I have done both and I would say Football was much harder. I barely remember gym but as far as I do remember, it was easier. Football, you have to remember all sorts of plays. Maybe I was too young to remember them all, I'm not sure.
